From the Preface: “This volume comprises contributions arising from the International Conference on the Cambrian Explosion – Charles Walcott and the Discovery of the Burgess Shale held in Banff, Alberta, August 3-8, 2009. Palaeontographica Canadiana is a series traditionally publishing monographic systematic studies of fossils collected in Canada, or studies of exotic fossils housed in Canadian collections. Consequently, this volume represents a significant departure from the conventional format of this series. And, there seemed to us no better reason for such a deviation than the centennial of Walcott’s discovery of the Burgess Shale in 1909, probably Canada’s and perhaps the world’s most famous fossil deposit.”
