Palaeontographica Canadiana No. 19: Upper Devonian (Famennian) conodonts of the Palliser Formation and Wabamun Group, Alberta and British Columbia, Canada.
The Upper Devonian (Famennian) Palliser Formation in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta and British Columbia, and Wabamun Group in the subsurface of these two provinces range from the Lower crepida to as high as the Lower expansa standard conodont zones. Major unconformities encompassing up to four zones occur at some localities, whereas in others deposition has been continuous. Conodont biofacies, together with sedimentological and stratigraphic evidence, show that a major transgressive-regressive cycle is represented by most of the Palliser Formation and Wabamun Group. Uppermost strata of the Palliser Formation and Wabamun Group may represent part or all of another transgressive-regressive cycle. In the course of this work, 12 new species were named and described.
