The Cache Creek terrane in British Columbia preserves remnants of the Panthalassan Ocean. Conodonts recovered from this terrane therefore provide an important perspective on the nature of Panthalassan faunas, which are less well characterized than contemporaneous faunas from the Tethys Ocean and the North American autochthon. Conodont faunas from the central region of the Cache Creek terrane near Nechako Lakes range in age from the Serpukhovian (Late Mississippian) to Rhaetian (Late Triassic). They include some species that are rare in the North American autochthon, such as Idiognathodus bashkiricus from the Carboniferous, Pseudohindeodus oertlii from the Permian, and Gladigondolella tethydis from the Triassic. Six new species are also described: Declinognathodus benedictus, Idiognathodus grubbsi, Neognathodus brulensis, Norigondolella imperfecta, Pseudosweetognathus accensus, and Paragondolella nyoromo. Additionally, the new genus Carbogondolella is proposed to encompass segminiplanate gondolellids from the Pennsylvanian that lack platform ornamentation. The recovery of more than 2700 specimens belonging to more than 100 species greatly increases our understanding of Panthalassan conodont faunas, and allows the correlation of units throughout the Cache Creek terrane.
