The Distinguished Service Award is given to recognize specific meritorious service to the Association by a member or friend of the GAC. The aim of the award is to distinguish people who have excelled at a particular volunteer position by doing an exceptional committee function, initiating a new and innovative idea, or making an effort above and beyond that which could be termed ”exemplary”. The award may be specific to a particular event, to a related series of events or may be made for exceptional contributions over a period of time.
Nomination papers for each candidate for any GAC Service Award should consist of a 100-word citation, a curriculum vitae and biography that describe the candidate’s accomplishments, a summary sheet containing the signatures of 5 sponsors who shall be Members or Distinguished Members of the Association, and a statement of the origin of the nomination (e.g., Section, Division, membership-at-large) to:
