This short course volume is a synergistic product of the Geological Survey of Canada Deep Search (Targeted Geoscience Initiative 3 program), Uranium Resources of Canada (Secure Canadian Energy Supply program) and IOCG/Multiple Metals Great Bear Region (Geomapping for Energy and Minerals program) projects conducted in collaboration with the Northwest Territories Geoscience Office and its South Wopmay Bedrock Mapping project (Strategic Investments in Northern Economic Development program, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada). Material presented in the volume covers all aspects of Iron Oxide Copper-Gold Deposits, and has been presented in Short Courses by the editors and their contributors over the past several years.
“This short course volume addresses critical issues in exploring for these deposits, provides case studies of reference deposits worldwide, and frames the diagnostic alteration types, paragenetic sequence, structural controls, and geophysical and geochemical signatures into zoning models, deposit classification and vectors for mineralization. Representative field examples and rock samples from stunning exposures of IOCG deposits and hydrothermal systems in the Great Bear Magmatic Zone (Canada) and worldwide analogues are amply illustrated. Regional to deposit scale alteration vectors to mineralization are developed to assist with exploration for IOCG deposits in both mature and in under-explored terrains that were largely mapped prior to recognition of the deposit type in the 1990s.” (From the abstract for Chapter 1: Exploring for Iron Oxide Copper-Gold (Ag-Bi-Co-U) Deposits: Case Examples, Classification and Exploration Vectors, by Louise Corriveau and Hamid Mumin)
